The Salish Sea includes all bodies of water that surround the Olympic Peninsula. Strait of Juan de Fuca, Strait of Georgia, Puget Sound, and network channels with adjoining waterways are all parts of this 6,950 sq. miles.
The raffle quilt for 2024 honors two of the marine life species that live and give birth in the Salish Sea. Orca depend on salmon for their survival. In addition, this sea is the breeding ground for future generations of orca. The quilt is 80”x80” and marine life is raw edge applique. Colorful Batik fabrics were used to create flowing water, fish scales, and orca forms.
The designs are all original and were created by a team from the Peninsula Art Quilters group: Gladis Marr, Anne Davies, and Marianne Nolte. Piecing and applique were accomplished by members of the PAQ community. Quilting by Alana Levesque.
This quilt will be on display at A Stitch in Time Quilt Shoppe in Sequim starting March 1, 2024 until all raffle tickets are sold.
